If you say very much, you mean more than simply much. More than that small thing you put in your mouth and chew up as if it were something useful or meaningful or for public consumption.

Words have different meanings, very and vary and wary are all different words. That's a fact. Not something you can glean over or call quits on in the middle of everything. Not something you throw away post-coitus. No, something completely different. Something wonderful, meaningful.
